Every student needs a go-to coffee spot. That one place where the Wi-Fi is decent, the vibes are comforting, and the drinks make you feel like you have got your life together, even if just for an hour. For me, that little corner of calm is Vida e Caffè right next to Spar in Weltevreden, Mitchells Plain.

I’ve always been a loyal Strawberry Matcha Latte girl. There is something about that delicate balance between earthy matcha and sweet berry that makes it my comfort drink, just like sipping springtime in a cup. But on this visit, I decided to switch it up. Life’s too short to stick to one order, right?

So, I went for a Mucho Cappuccino, and I was not disappointed. It came out steaming, topped with the perfect cloud of foam. The first sip was bold and creamy, a little jolt of joy that warmed me from the inside out. For someone accustomed to matcha’s mellow flavour, the cappuccino felt like a confident handshake. Different but just as lovable. Along with the drinks, we ordered a hot chocolate (also in a Mucho size), a quesadilla, and a tuna mayo sandwich, both of which were toasted to perfection. The hot chocolate was rich and not overly sweet. The quesadilla had a satisfying crunch on the outside and melty cheese inside, while the tuna mayo toastie was warm and filling. Classic comfort food done right.

The service was just as impressive as the food. Friendly staff, fast orders, and a warm atmosphere made it feel more like a break from the day than just a place to grab a bite. The space itself felt welcoming and relaxed. Natural light filtered in through the windows, soft music played in the background, and the mix of regulars and first-timers gave it a friendly hum of life. It’s the kind of place you can go to de-stress between classes, journal, catch up with a friend, or just sit quietly and people-watch over coffee.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what we tried:

Even though I stepped away from my usual strawberry matcha this time, trying something new reminded me that the little joys in life, such as café hopping or mixing up your order, can make your day feel brand new.

If you’re a student looking for a relaxing, friendly spot with fast service and feel-good food, Vida e Caffè in Mitchells Plain is worth the visit. Whether you’re a coffee lover, a hot chocolate fan, or a matcha queen like me, you’ll find something to fall in love with.
